In April 2007, Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Matri Bhavan School of Nursing was established to
offer the Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) programme under the NRHM PPP Scheme, Government of
West Bengal. The school is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council, the West Bengal Nursing
Council, and the Government of West Bengal.
In 2011, it was upgraded to a General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) school, also recognized by the
Indian Nursing Council and the West Bengal Nursing Council. The GNM programme officially
commenced in September 2011.
The school follows the syllabus, rules, and regulations prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council
for the three-year diploma programme, which includes a six-month internship.
In 2021, the institution was further upgraded to a College of Nursing, now named Matri Bhavan
College of Nursing, Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, located at 29, Sree Mohan Lane, Kolkata –
700026. The college is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences, the Indian
Nursing Council, and the West Bengal Nursing Council.
